HEALTHY LIVING: FINDING HELP AND SUPPORT TO TACKLE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

This important blog post is for all those that may feel alone or that need to find somewhere to go and get help and/or support. We all may know someone that is going through difficult times dealing with mental health issues or you, yourself may be battling issues with your own mental health, I pray that the information below will be of help and service to get you, a loved one or anyone back on track. Sometimes it may be hard to help those in need of help due to lack of education, support, and services but it’s our job to do our very best to pass on information so that it can be an option for others.

A mental health issue is an illness that affects the way people think, feel, behave or interact with others. In some cases, this illness can cause violence, self-harm, bad decisions, etc.

Some of the main mental health illnesses or disorders are…

  1. Mood Disorder, (such as depression or bipolar disorder)

  2. Anxiety Disorder

  3. Personality Disorder

  4. Psychotic Disorder, (such as Schizophrenia)

  5. Eating Disorders

  6. Trauma-Related Disorder (such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- PTSD)

  7. Substance Abuse Disorder

Psychological factors contribute to Mental Health…

  1. Serve psychological trauma suffered as a child, (such as emotional, physical, or sexual abuse).

  2. An important early loss (such as the loss of a parent)

  3. Poor ability to relate to others

  4. Neglect
